When you have two or more computers and one Printer it is difficult to manage manually because printer can be connected to one Computer Physically by Cable.
COMPUTER 1 SIDE PROCESS
but we can access the Printer from any computer without physical cable connection.
Steps to Follow.
This process can be divided in two main parts.
1. Computer 1 (Main Computer to which Printer is connected by cable)
2. Computer 2 (Main Computer to which Printer is not connected)
COMPUTER 1 SIDE PROCESS
1. Computer should be connected to Internet With same network(Either Wifi or Lan)
2. Click "WINDOWS" + "R" computer 1
3. Then Type "CMD"
4. Then command prompt screen is displayed
5. Then type "ipconfig", IP address will be displayed. (Example 192.168.1.101)
6. Please note this IP Address (will use in )
7. Open "Printer and Scanners" Option.
8. Select the printer which is connected and Active.
9. Click on "Manage".
10. Click on "Printer Properties".
11. Click on "Sharing" Tab and then Check the "Share this Printer" Option
12. Then click on "Ok".
COMPUTER 2 SIDE PROCESS
13. Then Open the "Computer 2" (for this computer, printer is not connected but the internet for computer 1 is same as the internet provided to computer 2)
click "WINDOW" button and "R" as mentioned in step 2.
14. Type
\\192.168.1.101 (IP Address of the Computer 1)
15. Then click "OK" .
16. Please enter the "USERNAME" & "PASSWORD" of the Computer 1.
17. Files and devices shared by Computer 1 will be displayed.
18. Right click on Printer and select Connect Option
19. Printer Drivers will be downloaded Automatically and installed (will take sometime for first time)
20. Printer sharing Setup is done. Now try to print a document to check.
21. Open a Document in Computer 2 and click on print (CTRL + P)
(Examples are shown below)
22. Dropdown menu will be displayed.
printer with the Ip Address will be displayed (Ex: \\192.168.1.101\PrinterName)
23. If the Printer name is not displayed Click on see more .
and select the printer.
24. Document will be printed from Computer 2 (Which is not physically connected by Cable)
Printer Connected to Computer 1 is shared to Computer 2.
It's useful but pretty confusing as I'm using our printer cum scanner by simply connecting it to router and installing required drivers from manufacturers site ... which was very easy ...as I'm using it through my laptop and my cellphone and two computers provided to us by installing required drivers and apps which was very easy
